After graduating summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in 1981, Willie joined Coopers & Lybrand and obtained his CPA license. In 1985, he received his MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business. Upon graduation, Willie joined Goldman Sachs' Private Wealth Management Division and in 1996 was hired by Morgan Stanley's Private Wealth Management Division to assist in starting their first Texas office. In 2001, together with four other founding partners, Avalon Advisors was formed. Away from Avalon, Willie is currently the Chairman of the Board of Houston Christian High School, a board member of The Star of Hope, the fourth largest homeless shelter in the USA, a member of the Mays School of Business Advisory Board at Texas A&M University and a deacon at Second Baptist Church. He is a former outside investment advisor to the Texas A&M Foundation, a former Trustee of the12th Man Foundation and past President of the Houston Children's Educational Opportunities Foundation, and a past President of the Houston Chapter of the Stanford Business School Alumni Association. Willie and Marian, his wife of 28 years, have three children.
