Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Russell attended Cornell University as a Telluride Scholar where he graduated magna cum laude with a BA in American Studies in 1977. Russell then attended Harvard Business School, receiving his MBA in 1979. Upon leaving Harvard, Russell entered the money management field joining Fayez Sarofim & Co. as a Research Analyst. In 1988, he joined the firm’s Investment Policy Committee and in 1993 was named Director of Equity Research. In addition, Russell co-managed five equity mutual funds exceeding $8 billion in value for the Dreyfus Corp. family of funds. Russell currently serves on the Board of the Rice Management Company (Rice University Endowment) and Sundial International, a private money management firm headquartered in Jersey. Russell was formerly a Trustee of St. John’s School in Houston and DePelchin Children’s Center.
